Course Contents
The course focuses on the use of English in professional contexts related to tourism, territorial promotion, and the enhancement of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Students will deepen their knowledge of English applied to the development of tourism systems, current commercial trends, and the ethical considerations of new forms of tourism. Additionally, the most relevant current issues in the field will be examined.

Learning Outcomes
English Linguistics Specialistica A for Tourism-LM 49 aims to explore and analyse the use of English in the promotion and dissemination of cultural and environmental heritage, as well as the events and tourism services associated with them. The course general contents and specific topics, language skills and activities, the end-of-course examination, as well as the assessment criteria applied, refer to C1 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
Prerequisites
Language skills at an advanced level: min. B2+, but C1 is preferred (CEFR). Students coming from CdS TUR (BA) who will sit English Linguistics Specialistica A for Tourism-LM 49 exam, are required compulsory extra material (please, check the specific syllabus for further details). Please check the prerequisites for admission to the MA Lingue, Culture, Turismo.
Teaching Methods
In addition to lectures, interactive activities are planned to encourage comments and discussions.
Additional Information
The course will be held in the second semester (March-May/June). The use of handbooks for the theoretical approach will be supported by authentic materials for the analysis of the linguistic features and the rhetorical strategies under scrutiny. Students with disabilities, learning disabilities or special education needs, once they have contacted the University Staff, can refer to the tutor in charge of the course to define the examination modalities, concerning academic aspects.
Assessment Methods
Written exam: the assessment consists of the analysis of a tourism-related text and a set of open-ended questions based on the course content. Candidates are expected to demonstrate not only a thorough understanding of the topics covered, but also critical thinking and the ability to offer original and well-structured reflections. The final grade is calculated on a weighted assessment basis. With reference to the 'Intended learning objectives' (see below), the following grades correspond to different skills: 18-22/30-sufficient, 23-25/30-satisfying, 26-28/30 good, 29-30 lode-very good.

Expected Learning Outcomes
Students will be expected to analyse a tourism-related text, discuss current trends, and understand the impact of certain political and environmental events on contemporary tourism.
