to analyze in a critical way the sources pertaining to the subject of the course and become familiar with the notion of a contextualized source.

to istruct students on how to express a historical argument in an original paper to be discussed publicly

This course is discussion-led, intends to be a seminar and implies regular attendance and active participation. It will be given in English. Students are expected to attend all sessions.

The final exam will consist of a. 3 subjects to be discussed in a written form (5 points each) and of 10 multiple-choice questions (0.5 points each). 10 points will be given to b. a paper of about 20.000 spaces on a subject discussed during the course. Part a of the final test will assess (66,66% of the final grade) the knowledge and understanding of the topic and the skills to make reasonable use of the epistemic outcome. Part b. (33,33%) will assess the communication skills of the students and his/her ability to focus.

Basic RAA: provide preparation based on reading the indicated texts. Advanced RAA: enable students to make informed judgments about the past as a basis for judging the present. RAs are assessed on the basis of a written exam.
