FRENCH LANGUAGE B EXERCISES III

The objectives are those recommended at C1 Level in the Common European Framework.

For students registered in the bachelor's degree in Modern Foreign Languages: passing the integrated exam of French Language II (language proficiency level obtained: B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Lectures, with the use of audiovisual material and the support of the DIR service. Seminar activities, active role of the learner, completion of assignments and translations.

The DIR service will provide detailed programs, instructions for the obligatory work, examples of written tests, and exercise sheets. Students with disabilities or with Specific Learning Disorders (DSA) or Special Educational Needs (BES) may request specific services and tools dedicated to them by contacting the Career Development and Coordination Staff and Student Services and consulting the dedicated page on the University website: https://uniupo.it/it/servizi/servizi-studenti-disabili-e-dsa Students with disabilities, DSA, BES, once they have contacted the University Staff, may contact the teacher in charge of the course in relation to the declination of the examination methods, with regard to teaching aspects.

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam consists of two separate parts, taken in two different sessions: a translation test from Italian to French and a written composition (essay). Written test procedure: 1- Duration of the test: 3 hours for each test. 2- Test structure and assessment method: a- Translation: mark out of 30; essay: mark out of 30; Final mark expressed out of 30. Minimum mark in the two individual tests to qualify for the oral test: 18/30. II- Oral exam procedure: 1- Duration of the exam: approximately 15 minutes. 2- Structure of the exam and assessment method: Structure of the exam and assessment method: In order to take the oral exam, students must submit the required assignment before the exam (to be agreed upon in advance). The oral exam consists of presenting and defending a point of view, based on a topic assigned by the teachers. Students will be given the opportunity to take an early oral exam, subject to the submission of the compulsory assignment, during the last lessons of the course, before the start of the summer exam session. In this case, the complete dossier (see the precise instructions uploaded to the course DIR) must be submitted to the teacher by May 2026. Those who do not submit their research on time will not be allowed to take the early exam under any circumstances. A maximum of 3 additional points may be awarded at the end of the oral exam. One point is awarded for the appropriateness of the speech and fluency of presentation, one point for morphological and syntactic correctness, and one point for phonological correctness, taking into account the set objectives (CEFR level C1).

The course prepares students for the following techniques: 1. Translation from Italian into French of various types of texts (48 hours per year, course taught by Mme L. Vitroni). The translation course includes a group A, which will focus on the translation of literary, journalistic and non-fiction texts, and a group B, which will focus on the translation of texts related to tourism. Students must choose their subgroup before the start of the first semester, depending on the focus they wish to give to their language training. Each group will have a different exam. 2. Introduction to written composition and oral production in preparation for the oral exam (48 hours per year, contract course). The course includes a group A, which will focus on the analysis of literary, journalistic and non-fiction texts, and a group B, which will focus on texts related to tourism. The calendar of teaching activities will be published on the course DIR at the beginning of the academic year.

Achieve level C1 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in the various skills, adapted to the needs of the course. Specifically: - Gain greater confidence in written and oral production. - Have a good command of two techniques: translation from Italian to French and essay writing. - Use logical connectors flexibly; be able to identify the various registers of expression and the various types of texts. - Independently carry out in-depth studies and research on topics related to literary tourism in France. - Be able to apply the skills acquired during the course in preparation for the final oral presentation.
