Object of the course is the analysis of Private Law deriving from the EU and the interaction of member States, in an historical and evolutionary perspective.

The aim of the course is to provide the students with basic notions, in order to identify the rules regarding private parties' interactions that have been modified or influenced by EU law.

No prerequisites.

Classroom lessons and material uploaded during the course. Special part of the course will be handled with a deeper examination of consumer's rights with regard to contracts, digital market and product liability tort law. Practical cases will be analyzed and materials provided on the teaching platform

Oral exam.

GENERAL PART
- Introduction to EU law - EU institutions and brief history of the Treaties;
- EU private law - armonization, conforming and unification;
- language problems and transposition of concepts;
- Legal fonts: treaties, regulations, directives, CGUE decisions;
- Adjustment of national law to EU law;
- circulation of legal models;
- liability of the State for violating EU law and legal remedies.

SPECIAL PART
- consumer contracts;
- digital market law;
- product liability tort law;
- company law;
- antitrust and public contracts law;
- legal remedies for the enforcement of rights

At the end of the course, students will have acquired awareness of the mechanisms through which rules, definitions and principles interact in the EU legal framework.
