Course Contents
The course, of 15 hours of teaching, explores themes and contents related to the basic concepts related to leadership and assertiveness in order to understand the main theoretical characteristics of the background by adopting with students a direct and engaging approach aimed at stimulating situations of deepening and comparison through comparisons, case studies, practical tests and role-playing games

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding: the course aims to provide the knowledge necessary to understand the basic concepts related to leadership and assertiveness, paying particular attention to the peculiarities of assertiveness including management style, communication, motivation or management of critical issues.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: the ability to apply the acquired knowledge can originate the adoption of a conscious behavioral attitude to be used in the context of the different activities that can be use in the management of the direction, government or coordination of a group of people or activities.
Making judgments: the goal is to develop a ability to analyze and evaluate the situations that are approached in order to be able to identify the choice of a management style or an application tool that is the most fit for the best management.
Communication skills: the course is aimed at acquiring a language that can be used in the professional field.
Learning skills: students will learn about the main sources of information and bibliography. They will develop the ability to analyze and evaluate the intrinsic aspects of each situation they will face in the professional field, managing to identify the most appropriate tools for their management.
Integration of the gender dimension, in particular the issue will be explored in depth in order to spark discussion on the matter and develop an aware attitude

Teaching Methods
Respect the application setting, the course will use a mix of teaching methodologies including classes, exercises, analysis and case discussions, in order to allow students to acquire knowledge of theoretical concepts as well as develop their ability to manage specific practical tests

The theory of traits or of the great man, the traits of the leader (Hollander, Locke, Bodiou).
The theory of leaders' styles: behaviors (Lewin, Lipitt and White), the managerial grid (Blake and Mouton).
The situationist approach: the contingency theory/model (Fielder), the decision-making style model (Vroom and Yetton), path goal theory (House and Mitchell), situational leadership (Hersey and Blanchard).
The theory of transactional and exchange (Hollander, Burns, Groves, La Rocca).
The transformational and charismatic theory (Burns, Bass, Gundersen).

Expected Learning Outcomes
Acquire knowledge of concepts related to theories of leadership and assertiveness and be able to express ability to apply management methods and a management style in communication, motivation or management of critical issues
