At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the fundamental principles of clinical pharmacology and the safe management of medicines in high-acuity care settings, with particular reference to antidotes, medicines subject to controlled drug regulations, Ministry recommendations, and the principles of appropriate prescribing of antibacterial and antifungal therapies.

Basic knowledge of pharmacology and nursing care for critically ill patients.

Lectures supported by multimedia presentations (PowerPoint), integrated with the discussion of clinical cases and practical examples.

Written examination consisting of a multiple-choice test with 15 questions, each including four answer options and a single correct answer. Each correct answer is worth 2 points, for a maximum score of 30/30.

At the end of the course, students will be able to:
-describe the fundamental principles of pharmacology applied to critically ill patients;
-identify the main risk factors for medication errors in intensive care settings;
-apply safety principles in the management of high-alert medications, antidotes, and medicines subject to controlled drug regulations;
-understand the main Ministry recommendations for the prevention of medication errors;
-understand the principles of appropriate use of antibacterial and antifungal agents within antimicrobial stewardship.
