The module aims to enable the learning of the basic principles of physical and rehabilitation medicine and to provide knowledge on the organizational methods, delivery of related services, and interprofessional team work. Additionally, this module aims to clarify the assessment and therapeutic procedures for some of the most common conditions that cause disability and require rehabilitative intervention.

Students must have essential knowledge of anatomy, physics, physiology, pathophysiology, and clinical semiotics.

The examination consists of a written test and an oral test. The written test consists of multiple-choice questions on the topics covered in the program, aimed at verifying knowledge and understanding of the disciplines of Neurology, Geriatrics, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and Dietary Sciences (14 questions per discipline, for a total of 56 questions). Passing the written test (with a score of at least 60% in each discipline) grants access to the oral examination in Clinical Nursing in Chronicity and Disability. The oral test aims to assess the student’s ability to exercise independent judgment, learning capacity, and communication skills when presenting and making connections between topics. The student must be able to independently apply diagnostic reasoning and critical thinking, using and correlating the knowledge acquired, and engaging in an in-depth discussion of specific care aspects related to two cases involving individuals with disabilities and/or chronic conditions.

Students must demonstrate that they have assimilated the basic knowledge of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine acquired during the lessons, in a manner adequate to effectively and efficiently carry out their future professional activities.
