The discipline of Clinical Medical Nursing offers the student the opportunity to learn the contents and methods necessary to set up and implement appropriate nursing care in relation to the main internist diseases. When presented with specific healthcare circumstances, the student will be able to acquire, according to the clinical reasoning approach: - the information required to obtain meaningful evaluations (through diagnostic reasoning), helpful for selecting (by decision-making) the most appropriate interventions and evaluating their consequences (via the evaluative process). - the knowledge required to comprehend the meaning and rules of examinations, diagnostic procedures, pharmacological and therapeutic treatments inherent in the pathologies of interest, as well as the legal, deontological, and behavioral rules governing drug storage and administration.

The student will be able to detect and explain the signs and symptoms of internal disease (see program) and, using clinical reasoning, arrive at meaningful evaluations to determine the most appropriate intervention choice by analyzing the results.

The following requirements must be met in order to take the exam: being proficient in the "morphological sciences" and "physiological sciences" (1st year - 1st semester); and being required to attend all classes as required by current regulations.

Frontal lecture supported by PowerPoint. Clinical case analysis and discussion will only take place in plenary sessions or small groups.

To support the teaching, the supplementary teaching activity "Laboratory with the use of active simulation methodology for the acquisition of complex technical nursing skills" (12 hours) was activated, aimed at the acquisition of technical-gestural skills.Students with physical disabilities, Learning Disabilities or Special Education Needs can request specific services and tools via the Staff Sviluppo e Coordinamento Carriere e Servizi alle Studentesse

The learning evaluation will include both a written and an oral test. The written exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) (just one right answer choice). 40 questions will investigate knowledge, applied understanding and independent judgment through the administration of integrated clinical cases. 10 questions will investigate the knowledge and ability to understand the discipline of pharmacology and in-depth analysis of the same. Time available: 60 minutes. Passing threshold of 60%, equivalent to 30 correct answers from the entire course. Passing the written test grants access to the oral exam, which analyzes a clinical case. The oral exam is scored out of 30 and evaluates the student's ability to investigate the ability to understand applied, independent judgement, communication skills and the ability to learn. A score of 18/30 is considered passed, and if not passed, the whole exam must be repeated (written plus oral). Time available: 15 minutes. The final certification evaluation is determined by the average of the written and oral evaluations.

At the end of the course the student will be able to:
acquire the knowledge to identify and describe the signs and symptoms of internal disease (Knowledge and comprehension skills).
be able to achieve meaningful evaluations through clinical reasoning, to choose the most appropriate intervention among several alternatives, and evaluating its outcomes (Applied knowledge and comprehension skills; autonomy of judgement).
