Learning Outcomes
The course, consisting of 10 hours of lectures with a final exam,will explore aspects related to the technological evolutionof Computed Tomography equipment, patient doseand the optimization of clinical acquisition protocols, with particular attentionto the duties and responsibilities of the Medical Radiology Technician. The main issuesrelated to the evolution of radiological examination methods inComputed Tomography will also be addressed, such as the use of automatic exposure controland iterative reconstruction methods, and the results ofquality control programs for Computed Tomographyequipment.
Prerequisites
Basic course in Physics. Knowledge of the basic dosimetric quantities(dose, effective dose)

Frontal lessons with pdf presentations provided to the students

Assessment Methods
Written examination. 20 multiple choice questions and 3 free answerquestions.To pass the examination a basic knowledge and understandingof the topics covered during the lessons is required.

Lecture 1. Basic principles dof CT technology. Evolution of CT scanners.Photon counting CT Factors wihch impact on the image quality and on thepatien's dose Lecture 2. Quality controls on CT scanners Lecture 3. Tubecurrent modulation. Iterative reconstruction in CT Lecture 4. Optimizationof the acquisition protocols based on clinical indication. Lecture 5. CT inpregnancy and in reproductive age.Pediatric CT.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge of the parameters that incluence patient dose and imagequality. Ability to develop an acquisition protocol based on the clinicalindication.
