Basic concepts of general chemistry (terminology, physical quantities and units, weights, volumes, flows, atoms, molecules, mole, solutions/mixtures).

The course aims to fill the gaps in students' basic concepts of chemistry and terminology, allowing them to attend the following Chemistry courses.

Knowledge of the Italian language. Basic concepts of chemistry and mathematics.

Classroom lectures with projection of slides and exercises.
In the event of any restrictive measures due to health emergencies, the lectures and exercises may be integrated or replaced by remote teaching (lessons and exercises transmitted live on online platforms or made available in registered mode).

Final written exam with multiple-choice questions and exercises, provided through the online platform DIR.
The professor may, at their discretion, hold an oral examination for any further verification of the written test results.
In the event of any restrictive measures due to health emergencies, the exams will be provided in remote mode, keeping the operating and evaluation methods of the exam intact.

Physical quantities. Units of measurements. Decimal multiples. Mass, volume, density, flow. Temperature scales. The matter. Atoms, molecules, ions. Elements and compounds. Periodic table of elements. Chemical formulas. Atomic weight, molecular weight, formula weight. The mole and Avogadro number.

Knowledge of the terminology and basic tools of chemistry. Knowledge of the concepts of atom, molecule, solution, mole and their use in simple problem-solving exercises.
