Basic knowledge of cellular and molecular biology

Theoretical lectures and exercises with ppt presentation by students and searching of scientific articles in pubmed.

Detailed Syllabus
Receptors with intrinsic enzymatic activity, receptors coupled with cytosolic proteins, G coupled receptors, nuclear receptors, enzymes as molecular targets. Targeted cancer therapies: action on cell proliferation, angiogenesis, senescence and apoptosis. Mechanisms of DNA repair. Selection of patients who can benefit from molecular target therapies. Precision medicine.
Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students must demonstrate deep knowledge of the signal transduction pathways generated by drug/target interactions. They should be able to analyze a scientific article effectively. These expected learning outcomes, aligned with the Dublin descriptors, are as follows: KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cellular and molecular biology. Understand the mechanisms underlying tumor development to identify molecular targets and precision therapies. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION: Apply theoretical principles to analyze complex molecular mechanisms. Solve problems within biomedical, molecular, and pharmacological contexts. JUDGMENT AUTONOMY: Critically evaluate experimental data. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Clearly and coherently communicate scientific concepts, using appropriate terminology. Present and discuss course topics logically, highlighting connections between different themes. LEARNING ABILITY: Develop autonomous learning strategies for continuous knowledge expansion. Prepare for advanced studies or research activities in the field of oncology research.
