Course Contents
Joint range-of-motion and muscle testing for all body regions: biomechanics fundamentals (axes and planes of movement, types of muscle contraction); anatomical and functional measurements; static and dynamic assessment of the spine; joint assessment of all regions; overview of hand assessment; identifying anatomical landmarks; recognizing the muscles under examination and their innervation; overview of dermatomes, myotomes, sensory distribution, and major deep tendon reflexes; locating origins and insertions; distinguishing between mono-articular and bi-articular muscles; and correctly positioning the patient for assessment.

Learning Outcomes
The module aims to enable students to acquire the principles underlying the physiotherapy assessment of joint range of motion, the muscle strength of individual muscles or muscle groups, and their main nerve innervations.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of anatomy (osteology, arthrology, and myology). Knowledge of joint kinesiology.

Additional Information
During their practical training in the gyms of various rehabilitation services, students will be required to perform joint and muscle tests on patients under the supervision of clinical tutors.
Assessment Methods
The exam will consist of a written test: a multiple-choice quiz.
Detailed Syllabus
Patient physical examination: observation and assessment. Joint range of motion and muscle testing across all body regions. Patient posture, stabilization, and resistance. Mono-articular and bi-articular muscles. Examination and assessment of muscle activity during specific functional movements. Grip techniques. Overview of sensory assessment. Innervation of individual muscles.

Knowing how to apply the principles underlying every aspect of physiotherapeutic assessment.
