From symptoms to diagnosis: signs and symptoms; clinical methodology.
...Main clinical macro-problems: fever, bleeding, chest/abdominal pain, shortness of breath, jaundice, itching, altered consciousness
Symptoms of cardiovascular diseases (chest pain, shortness of breath, edema, syncope, and palpitations); shock: pathophysiological mechanisms and causes; venous thromboembolism: DVT, PE; arterial hypertension and cardiovascular risk factors.
- Joint pain, osteoarthritis, and arthritis
- Sepsis
- Cough and hemoptysis; COPD and Asthma
- Abdominal pain; nausea/vomiting and diarrhea; itching; gastrointestinal bleeding; malabsorption syndromes; inflammatory bowel diseases
- Liver diseases; causes and complications of chronic liver diseases; ascitic fluid, jaundice, hepatic encephalopathy.
Acidosis and alkalosis; main dyselectrolytemias. Anemia and thrombocytopenia: definitions and causes. Main immune system abnormalities.

Learning Outcomes
To learn the epidemiology and the principles of prevention of the morbid conditions related to the internist pathology; learn the classification and systematic description of the internist illnesses that are most imposing, from theirs pathogenesis to clinical presentation and therapy.

Detailed Syllabus
Students will be able to assess the clinical problem and the healthcare path devoted to diagnosing and treating the issue (fever, chest pain, abdominal pain, bleeding, thrombosis, reduced consciousness, jaundice, itching, shortness of breath, diarrhea). In particular, students will learn the value of diagnostic tests (sensitivity, specificity, predictive value) and the basics of differential diagnosis (frequency and severity of alternative diagnoses). Additionally, students will learn the fundamentals of the main cardiology, hematology, oncology, and rheumatology treatments.
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to: acquire the knowledge to identify and describe the signs and symptoms and therapies for internal diseases (Knowledge and comprehension skills)
