Assessment Methods

The examination consists of a written test comprising three true/false statements. For each statement, students must indicate whether it is true or false and provide a brief written justification supporting their answer.

Each question is worth a maximum of 11 points, for a total of 33 points, allowing the award of 30 cum laude. The final grade is expressed on a 30-point scale, with 18/30 as the minimum passing grade and 30 cum laude as the highest possible mark.

Detailed Syllabus

The role of immune system in tissue regeneration. Innate and adaptive immunity. The phases of tissue healing and immune cell polarization. Tissue regeneration: methods involving stem cells, biomaterials, drug delivery systems.

Expected Learning Outcomes

D1 – Knowledge and Understanding

Students will acquire knowledge and understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying tissue regeneration, with particular emphasis on the role of the immune system in regenerative processes. They will also develop the ability to use appropriate scientific terminology accurately.

D2 – Applying Knowledge and Understanding

Students will be able to apply the knowledge acquired to disciplines requiring an understanding of tissue regeneration and immune-mediated regenerative mechanisms. These competencies will support their activities in diagnostic, translational, and research laboratories.

D3 – Making Judgements

Students will develop the ability to critically and independently analyze the biological mechanisms underlying tissue regeneration and evaluate current scientific evidence in the field.

D4 – Communication Skills

Students will acquire the ability to communicate the knowledge gained using appropriate scientific terminology, enabling them to engage professionally and effectively in academic and professional settings. They will develop mastery of the terminology related to regenerative mechanisms and will also be able to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively to non-specialist audiences.

D5 – Learning Skills

Students will develop the ability to use the teaching materials provided to undertake a critical and reasoned study of the topics covered during the course. They will also be able to independently expand and update their knowledge through the critical reading of textbooks and scientific literature related to tissue regeneration, immunology, and the other topics addressed during the course.
