Learning Outcomes
The course aims to strengthen the language skills learned in the first year. The grammatical, syntactic and morphological skills of the Arabic language will be expanded. The course is also aiming at making the student reaching the A2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Arabic equal to the content of the first year Arabic language course.
Teaching Methods
Total of 45 hours lessons. Classroom attendance is strongly recommended to allow students face to face interaction with the teacher and other students.

Support activities with the teacher, by appointment.

Assessment Methods
Written test lasting two hours will include questions on the grammatical topics covered in class and translation exercises.
Detailed Syllabus
The following topics will be dealt with during the course:
1. Nominal morphology.
2. Triptotal and diptotal declension.
3. Pronoun: personal, demonstrative, interrogative and relative.
4. Basics on numerals.
5. The plural and the dual.
6. Syntax: the nominal and verbal phrase.
7. Roots and patterns, use of the dictionary.
Expected Learning Outcomes
The level of Arabic to be reached at the end of the course is A2 of the CEFR.
The course includes the acquisition of grammatical, syntactic and lexical skills essential for reading and understanding texts in Modern Standard Arabic. Students will also develop oral and written communication skills in relation to daily conversation.
The course develops practical skills in translation from Arabic to Italian and from Italian to Arabic.
