Reasoning processes underlying disinformation: hate speech, slurs and communicative failures.

To achieve competence concerning distorted communication processes that, at various levels, infringe upon people's rights. To make the students competent and autonomous in the application of the notions and methodologies learned, enabling them to develop an autonomous argumentative style in philosophical and extra-philosophical domains. These competence are a necessary condition for understanding the argumentative structure of philosophical, scientific, and normative essays, and to improve one's communicative effectiveness. Advanced level: the students must demonstrate full knowledge of the course content and be able to articulate and communicate it with rigour, autonomy and originality.

Students with disabilities, learning disabilities or special education needs, once they have contacted the University Staff, can refer to the course’s teaching staff to define the examination modalities and teaching aspects.

The final exam is aimed at verifying the mastery of the topics discussed and the bibliography studied, in accordance with the objectives and the expected learning outcomes. The examination will be in written form (90 minutes). The tests will consist of 3 open-ended questions, having as a topic one of the topics discussed during the lessons, for a maximum of 10 points each. The students will have to answer the questions and argue using the appropriate scientific terminology. The exam will be successful if the sum of 18/30 is reached or exceeded. An assignment with an exhaustive answer to the three questions will be assigned the maximum score (30/30) with possible attribution of honors.

1) Investigation into the uses of language in non-ideal contexts, through an overview of the philosophy of language from the second half of the twentieth century to the present day. 2) Investigation into the role of language in the construction of social reality. 3) Guideline for a language capable of addressing the major socio-cultural discriminations.

Basic Level: To know the most characteristic phenomena of non-ideal communication in contemporary society and reflect on their causes; to combine the learning of philosophical notions with the personal practice of an autonomous communicative style; to strengthen defenses against disinformation. Advanced Level: In order to fully achieve these objectives, students must demonstrate a mature understanding of the course content and be able to articulate it in communication characterized by rigor and originality, with adequate autonomy of judgment.
