The course will consist of a theoretical part that will reconstruct the concept of integration from the main theoretical frames of sociology, and a part on case studies useful for the critical analysis and application of the concept of integration.

The teaching aims to enable students to:
- analyse the various meanings assumed by the term 'social integration'
- acquire critical competence with regard to common-sense perspectives
- use sociological categories in dealing with migration and integration issues

The course will be conducted in seminar format. The lecture part will be followed by exercises, presentations of scientific articles by the students, and group discussions.

The final assessment will consist of a written report - with an outline agreed with the professor during the course - on the topics addressed in the course. It must respect the rules of a scientific text: coherent argumentation, specialised vocabulary, para-textual elements (title, index, notes, bibliographical citations and final bibliography). The paper, of approximately 10 pages, excluding the references (TNR 12, single line spacing) must be sent to the lecturer at least ten days before the examination call. Further information will be provided in the first lessons.
