The course aims to develop written and oral communication skills in the academic field, using a specialised textbook and authentic texts.

The course programme and the mode of assessment are based on the B2 level of competence of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).

Interactive lectures.

All course materials are available on the course page on the DIR platform, which is updated regularly.

Attendance is optional but strongly recommended.

Oral examination: oral presentation of a scientific article.

Students may choose a scientific article for the oral presentation from a selection of articles that will be made available on DIR. In addition, the evaluation criteria for the oral presentation will also be available on DIR.

With regard to the listening exercises, the audios are available on the CD included in the book. In addition, the book includes transcripts of the audios and keys of the exercises.

Students will be able to:
- understand academic texts;
- use the strategies required to organise academic texts, and in particular oral presentations;
- master specialist vocabulary for discussing and presenting academic topics.
