Students will be organised in small groups that will be assigned to specific topics on a rotation basis (as stated in the yearly program. The professionalizing internship provides for the mandatory attendance of the surgery rooms and intensive care units affiliated to Uniupo. The frequency of the operating theaters and the Intensive Care Unit can instead be agreed on a voluntary basis with Prof. Cammarota

The program proposes an approach to clinical problems for the most part known by the students, but faced according to a methodology proper to the emergency conditions. This methodology goes beyond the traditional schemes of the nosographic classification of diseases, trying to go through the criteria for defining severity and symptomatic approach, postponing the goal of a refined and definitive diagnosis. This approach takes into account the need to guarantee the student the ability to face a clinical condition where the decision on medical behavior must be rapid and aimed at stabilizing and improving the patient's clinical conditions by acting according to largely codified schemes. Handling emergency situations personally will probably be one of the first tasks in the young doctor's professional activity; this frequently occurs in the absence of specific experience that puts him in a position to be able to deal with them with confidence and professionalism.

Multiple choice quiz. The final exam will consist of a preliminary test of 80 quizzes focused on the topics and material presented in the course. The first 40 quizzes will be considered basic for passing the course, and the student must correctly answer at least 25 in order to pass the exam

Approach to the septic patient 8. Principles of locoregional and general anesthesiology 9. Principles of Pain Relief 10. Brain death and organ donation. 11. Respiratory failure

Ability to properly approach both medical and surgical emergencies.
