The module aims to provide knowledge and understanding of the main clinical topics in child and adolescent neuropsychiatry through a comprehensive approach encompassing both the organic and psychological aspects of disorders. It also aims to explain common diagnostic procedures used in clinical practice, covering neurological and epileptological assessment as well as psychodynamic approaches.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Recognise the main clinical features of the disorders covered.
Independently identify situations requiring referral for further diagnostic assessment.
Adapt the rehabilitation approach to the specific characteristics of the clinical conditions presented.
Assess both improvement and deterioration in the clinical conditions discussed within the rehabilitation setting.
Effectively communicate patients’ clinical conditions in healthcare settings, using appropriate methods and terminology from child and adolescent neuropsychiatry.

Lectures on the topics covered, supported by slides, videos and printed materials.
Assessment of students’ understanding, with dedicated time for questions on previous lectures.
Interactive discussions of clinical cases, during which students will be asked to:
Formulate diagnostic hypotheses based on the clinical data provided.
Simulate the planning of a rehabilitation intervention.
Identify findings that should be reported to medical staff.
Accurately summarise the emerging clinical picture.
