READING LIST FOR THE ORAL PART OF THE EXAM
For the oral exam, students are to read the following book: Andrés Trapiello, Ayer, no más, Destino/Austral.
Students must bring the book they have read (including in digital format) to the exam; it must be free of any marks or annotations.

The aims, objectives and functions are those recommended at C1.1 Level in the Common European Framework, adapted to academic requirements

Pass at 2nd year level (both Spanish Linguistics A and Spanish Language II = LINGUA SPAGNOLA II)

Practical language classes and self-study. Use of the Dir service
The course is based on the material contained in the texts listed in the bibliography and on the extra material handed out in class or uploaded to the DIR service.
Additional activities will be carried out in class to strengthen and consolidate linguistic skills in order to meet the objectives of the course

Every year, a Vademécum is published on all the Dir pages of Spanish Language and Linguistics, providing detailed information on exams, appeals, DSA and compensatory measures, Erasmus, etc. It is compulsory reading for all students.

Examination format: Written test (on the same day).
A) Part 1 (1 hour 45 minutes): 4–6 grammar exercises (fill-in-the-blank, transformation, rephrasing, guided response) and a short composition in the target language (approx. 200 words); B) Part 2 (1 hour 45 minutes): translation using a dictionary (2,000 characters, including spaces).
Oral component: assessment of oral skills (comprehension and expression, including based on the compulsory reading list) according to the specified level. Students must bring the book or books they have read (including in digital format) to the exam; these must be free of marks or annotations.
To pass the written part, students must achieve at least 18/30 in both sections – if they pass only one of the two sections, the mark obtained will be valid for 12 months from the date of the exam, and they will only need to sit the section they failed. After 12 months, they will have to retake the entire written exam.
The written examination will be deemed passed if the student provides at least 60 per cent correct answers in the grammar exercises, and demonstrates, in the composition and in the translation, correct use of sentence structure and grammatical correctness in written expression (for the specified level).

An oral examination will be considered satisfactory if the student is able to communicate fluently on complex topics (including those related to the reading material), using a variety of vocabulary, morphology and syntax, and employing grammatically correct forms.
Exams displaying limited knowledge of vocabulary and idioms, incorrect use of grammar (morphosyntax) and of the communicative structures and forms corresponding to the required level will be considered inadequate.
The final mark will be the average of the written and oral components. To pass the exam, students must achieve a minimum mark of 18/30 in both the written and oral components.
ONGOING ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING: tests in class and at home on the topics covered; grammar tests (with exercises), composition tests, listening comprehension and translation.

Spanish grammar, exercises of (oral and written) expression and comprehension. Grammar contents: use and values of tenses and verbal modes; direct and indirect speech in the formal and colloquial registers; use of the subjunctive and the indicative (alternation and selection of the mode); locutions and use of modes in conditional constructions; use of modes in adversative and concessive constructions; use of modes in modal constructions; passive form and impersonal form; the expression of time relationships; locutions and use of the modes in the causal, consecutive and final clauses; periphrasis with infinity, participle and gerund; the conjecture (locutions and use of tenses). Phraseology and lexicon of special languages, depending on the translation (from Spanish to Italian and from Italian to Spanish) or drafting of various textual types: exhibition, administrative and legal texts.
