The history of Alfredo Panzini’s "Dizionario moderno" and a digital lexicography workshop (an exercise in drafting entries for the diachronic electronic edition currently under development at UPO).

1. Good knowledge on Alfredo Panzini as a writer and lexicographer. 2. Being able to collaborate to the diachronic edition of Panzini's “Dizionario moderno”.

Expected goals for NOT attending students: 1. Good knowledge on Alfredo Panzini as a writer and lexicographer. 2. Good knowledge on “questione della lingua” in Italy, from Dante to present days.

Students who have not achieved 12 cfu in History of the Italian language (sector L-FIL-LET/12) in their previous career are advised to study as well C. MARAZZINI, La lingua italiana. Storia, testi, strumenti, Bologna, il Mulino, 2015 (chapters 12-21).

In-class lectures and computer classroom lessons. PPT and video clips. During the lessons, students are actively involved through the submission of digital philology exercises.

Digital tools useful for teaching Italian in secondary schools will be presented. DSA/BES. Oral exam on the lessons topics and on the materials indicated in the bibliography. For attending students who will deliver the written exercise in digital philology, the exam has an average duration of 10 minutes. The oral exam will take place as follows: - Two questions on Alfredo Panzini writer and lexicographer (the oral presentation and the dialectic conversation with the teacher will be assessed). Value 50% (= basic level). - The teacher will comment on the written exercise delivered by the student at the end of the lessons (or two weeks before the exam): exercises in digital philology. Value 50% (= advanced level). For students who CANNOT attend the course, the exam lasts an average of 20 minutes. The oral exam will take place as follows: - Two questions on Alfredo Panzini writer and lexicographer (the oral presentation and the dialectic conversation with the teacher will be assessed). Value 40% (= basic level). - One question concerning the “questione della lingua” before the political Unification of Italy. Two questions concerning the “questione della lingua” after the political Unification of Italy, in the XX century and in the present days. Value 60% (1 correct answer = basic level, 2 correct answers = intermediate level, 3 correct answers = advanced level).

1. Alfredo Panzini: writer and lexicographer. 2. The eight editions of Panzini’s "Dizionario moderno". 3. Schiaffini and Migliorini editors of the posthumous edition of the "Dizionario moderno". 4. Project for a diachronic electronic edition of the "Dizionario moderno" carried on by the UPO. 5. Assignment of a section of the word list to each student for a philology exercise.
Students who CANNOT attend the course will follow the exam bibliography over mentioned (Panzini writer and lexicographer; the "questione della lingua" in Italy).

In order to achieve a basic level, the student is asked to demonstrate: 1. Good knowledge on the history of the "Dizionario moderno" and on Panzini's work as a writer and lexicographer. In order to achieve an advanced level, the student is also asked to demonstrate to be able to collaborate to the diachronic edition of the “Dizionario moderno”.

Expected results for NOT attending students: 1. Good knowledge on the history of the "Dizionario moderno" and on Panzini's work as a writer and lexicographer. 2. Good knowledge on “questione della lingua” in Italy, from Dante to present days (if the knowledge is solid and complete = advanced level).
